My father was Michael Suchodola and was born in Mykulyntsi in Western Ukraine. During WWII he was forced to work in a German Labour Camp. At the end of the war he was offered the choice of returning to his home in Ukraine which had been 'given' to the USSR or to re-settle in the West. He chose the West and came to England.
After a few years of settling in and moving around he met my mum in Stratton St Margaret Swindon. They married in 1954 and bought a house in North Street Swindon. He died of cancer in 1960.
