This is an image that shows what I have always known as the "bottom end" of town. Fleet Street Faringdon Road and in the foreground Cheltenham and Gloucester Streets. I am not sure of the date but around 1960 is my guess.
It also shows the line of the old canals from top left to bottom left and then across to mid right.
Development has started as there is a new building at the old Golden Lion Bridge junction with Regent Street and new buildings and probably John Street Car Park being built in the foreground.
