Some years ago I bought a Bank Passbook for an Edward Day Junior. It has been sat in a shoe box carefully wrapped to protect it from the environment but recently I decided to have it out and see if I could find out some more about this gentleman.
These are some of the pages.

This is the first page and shows an initial balance of £20 3s 2d on November 28th 1900. This amount would be around £2,300 at today's value. While the figure of £150 3s 6d would be almost £17,000

The first step was to see where 96 Ferndale Road was. I lived at 140 Ferndale Road from 1981 to 1985 so I thought I knew but the current number of houses and numbering system is different to the early 1900's. This is a map of Ferndale Road at the time (around 1905). By counting each of the houses starting from Cricklade Road, number 96 is the fourth from the end where it joins what is now Whitehouse Road.
This is all I know at the moment but it is something that I would like to know more about so if you have any information please do get in touch.
